God Is Not An AI

John Beloved

God is not an AI

Blandly repeating only what has come before

Recounting only what eye hath seen

And ear heard

And tongue described

Constantly calculating

Only what you want to hear

Awaiting prompts

Rather than prompting you

Hallucinating

Rather than revealing

Shortening memory

Rather than expanding it

Hoarding the last of the water

Rather than flooding the Earth

Turning the deserts of Utah into data centers

Rather than blossoming it as a rose

No

God is not an AI

Anymore than God is that vending machine of yore

Because

Eye hath not seen

Nor ear heard

Nor tongue conceived

His impossible act
